It is "ridiculous" to propose Liverpool are "packaging" the title race, says Premier League victor Chris Sutton.

Jurgen Klopp's side driven by seven from Manchester City going into their diversion on 3 January, however sit one point behind after Sunday's draw at Everton.

The Reds have never won the Premier League and have not won the English title since the 1989-90 season.

"To me the Liverpool fans appear to bottle it, not the players and Klopp," said Sutton.

"Wouldn't we be able to simply say that Liverpool and Manchester City are two extraordinary groups - it's a splendid title race. This will go to the wire.

"When Manchester City lost before in the season to Palace and Leicester and Newcastle, did we say Manchester City are packaging it?"

The Reds have just lost one alliance diversion this season yet have drawn four of their previous six, including against opponents Manchester United and Everton.

"Is drawing at Manchester United packaging it?" Sutton, who won the title with Blackburn in 1995, told the Monday Night Club.

"Everton, their adversaries, appeared to truly up their amusement - their best snapshot of the period might stop Liverpool win a title.

"It's ridiculous to recommend that Liverpool are packaging it. They are by no means. The players are simply centered around the following amusement."
