Attention! Cottrell revels in Windies' wicket salute
West Indies quick bowler Sheldon Cottrell said his novel military-style salute to commend his five-wicket pull against England was a sign of admiration for the military regiment in which he serves.
The 29-year-old guaranteed 5-46 as West Indies won the second one-day worldwide by 26 keeps running on Friday, with the left-arm seamer denoting every leap forward by walking down the pitch, remaining to consideration before snapping out a sharp salute to the side of his head with his correct hand.
"It's a military-style salute. I'm a warrior by calling. Me saluting is simply to demonstrate my appreciation to the Jamaica Defense Force," he told the BBC.
"I do it each time I get a wicket. I rehearsed it for a half year when I was preparing in the military."
Cottrell's commitment was hailed by West Indies commander Jason Holder whose group are presently 1-1 in the five-diversion arrangement.
"Cottrell gave us that additional piece of variety with the ball. I cherish his vitality. His is one for the future," said Hold
